The Joy of Giving and Tithing

The Joy of Giving and Tithing: A Heart of Generosity

Today we study the biblical principles of giving and tithing. In this study, we go directly into the Word of God to understand the significance of giving, the blessings it brings, and the joy of a generous heart.

1. God's Commandment: Tithing

Scripture: Malachi 3:10 (NIV) - "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."

Commentary: Tithing is a commandment from God, a practice of giving a tenth of our earnings to support the work of His house. It's not just a duty but an opportunity to experience God's abundant blessings.

2. Giving with a Cheerful Heart

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV) - "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

Commentary: Giving is not about obligation but about joy. God values a heart that gives willingly, with love and cheerfulness, knowing that every act of generosity honors Him.

3. The Blessings of Generosity

Scripture: Proverbs 11:25 (NIV) - "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."

Commentary: Generosity invites blessings into our lives. As we refresh others through our giving, God, in turn, refreshes our spirits, leading to a cycle of abundant blessings.

4. Within Reach! Stance on Giving

Commentary: Within Reach! emphasizes the spiritual importance of giving but does not solicit for nor accept donations of any kind. Our purpose is to share God's Word and love without any financial expectations. Give to yoiur local church. Don't try to send money to us--just go buy food for a single mom and save the stamp.

Conclusion:

As we embrace the joy of giving and tithing, let's do so with a heart full of gratitude. Whether it's through financial offerings, time, or talents, our generosity reflects God's love in action. May we continue to give cheerfully, knowing that in our giving, we honor God and bless others.
