Dreams and The Bible

Dreams: God's Messages for Earthly Life

Scripture Reading:

Genesis 37:5-7
"Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. He said to them, 'Listen to this dream I had: We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.'"

Reflection:

Throughout the Bible, dreams often serve as a means by which God communicates with His people. From Joseph’s prophetic dreams to the warnings given to the Magi after Jesus’ birth, God uses dreams to provide guidance, reveal His plans, and offer encouragement. Dreams remind us that God is always at work, even when we rest.

Dreams can also reflect the desires, struggles, and questions we face in our earthly lives. They provide a space for our minds to process what is happening around us. While not every dream carries divine meaning, God can use our dreams to help us reflect on our lives, seek His guidance, and grow in faith.

Just as Joseph’s dreams pointed to God’s purpose for his life, our dreams can inspire us to consider the roles we are called to play. Whether it’s a recurring thought, a creative vision, or a moment of clarity, God may be using your dreams to guide you toward His plan. When we bring our dreams before God, we can find His wisdom and direction for living faithfully on Earth.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the ways You speak to us, even through our dreams. Help me to discern Your will and trust in Your plans. Teach me to bring my thoughts, desires, and visions before You, seeking Your wisdom and guidance. May my life reflect Your purpose and bring glory to Your name. Amen.

Challenge:

Take some time this week to journal about a dream or recurring thought that has stayed with you. Pray for clarity and ask God how it might relate to His purpose for your life. Be open to His guidance and trust in His plans for you.
