Patience with Strangers
"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it."
Reflection:
Life is filled with encounters—some brief, some lasting. In the hustle of our daily lives, we may interact with others only once, perhaps in line at a store, during a commute, or at a chance meeting. These fleeting moments are opportunities to reflect Christ’s love and patience, even if we never meet those individuals again.
Jesus modeled this beautifully in His interactions with strangers. From the Samaritan woman at the well to the blind beggar by the roadside, He approached each person with patience, kindness, and respect. He saw their needs and responded with compassion, leaving behind a lasting impact.
When we practice patience with those we may never see again, we reflect God’s grace in a tangible way. A kind word, a moment of understanding, or even a simple smile can plant seeds of hope and encouragement. While we may not know the effect of our actions, God does, and He uses even small acts of patience to further His kingdom.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the opportunities You give me to show Your love to others, even in brief encounters. Help me to be patient, kind, and understanding, knowing that every interaction can reflect Your grace. Teach me to see others through Your eyes and to trust that You are working through each moment. Amen.
Challenge:
Today, make a conscious effort to show patience to someone you encounter, whether it’s a stranger or an acquaintance. Offer a kind word or take an extra moment to listen. Pray for God to use that interaction to bless and encourage them, even if you never see them again.
